I haven’t tried new skincare for quite some time. Partly because for a while, I was taking a minimalist approach to my skincare routine. This was because my skin was breaking out for months and I had absolutely no idea why. Man! I hate adult acne! I tried everything I possible could but it just didn’t help. So I thought maybe cutting down drastically on the products I was using would help calm my skin, but it didn’t.
After a while, I was getting bored of the mundane processes of my everyday skincare routine so I finally decided to switch things up. While browsing Sephora.com, I found a Drunk Elephant trio that was very highly rated so I bought it on a whim. I did not have high hopes for these products because nothing had worked for months. I woke up happy to see that I got my Sephora Play! box in the mail so I thought I would film a Sephora Play Unboxing January 2016 video for you all. I know I posted a Sephora unboxing very recently. The previous one that I posted was very delayed because I was travelling the entire month of December and didn’t get a chance to film it till the end of the month. However, from now on, these unboxings will be a monthly occurrence.
This month’s Sephora Play is based on the theme of ‘No Appointments Necessary’. I was thrilled to see some new skincare and haircare samples in the box! I love discovering my products and all the products in this box are foreign to me. In this box, you will find products that will help you achieve perfect hair and skin without having to go to the hairdresser, dermatologist or plastic surgeons (at least, that’s my take on it). Click the Play button to see what’s in the box!
Oh! and I will also be trying some of these products out on snapchat so make sure you follow me to see first impressions / results @culturedfash View Post
I must admit, I’m not the best or most regular when it comes to exfoliating my skin. I have used scrubs, masks and blackhead removal strips to attempt mini facials at home, and they have worked. However, nothing that I have used at home has come remotely close to the spa like results that ExfoliKate by Kate Somerville has given my skin. View Post
It’s been a long time since I updated my skincare routine. Over the last few months, my skin has gone through some crazy ups and downs and I’m pretty sure the reason has been my diet changes. Thankfully, my skin has now calmed down and I’m pretty sure it’s been a combination of my body detoxing and my new skincare routine. Let me update you with what’s happening: I have been making a conscious decision to eat more plant based foods. This is not to say that I am turning 100% vegan, but I am just eating as much plant based foods as possible. Over the past three months, my body has been going through a ‘detoxification period’, that has lead to me breaking out…bad. Literally nothing helped the breakouts and to be honest with you, I hadn’t experienced such bad acne in my life. If you all don’t know by now, I have seriously oily skin and large pores. In the past I was not prone to terrible acne but had a few pimples here and there (as most of us do). When I started my skin started to break out, nothing I put on my skin seemed to help and I had to resort to ‘tweaking’ my nighttime skincare routine.
I rarely come across a product that impresses me from the very beginning. When I find one, I need to tell you all about it. This time around, it’s the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo Plus serum. I like to refer to products that work wonderfully on my skin as ‘magic’. The La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo Plus serum is magic in a tube. I originally found out about this, last winter while I was thoroughly researching the best products to buy from a french pharmacy. I was in Paris and I knew I wanted to come home with some awesome products. Every single blog I read recommend this as a must have– and now I see why.
