HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
I have finally gotten around to writing and publishing the very first post for my blog. As much as I wanted this post to be published on January 1st, 2015 to commemorate the new year (and my 2015 resolutions), sickness got the best of me. Yet I am determined to start this year on a positive note! It’s better late than never right? Luckily, in this case, its not too late.
I thought hard about what I wanted my first post to be about and decided on the obvious choice– to introduce myself and this blog.
As 2015 begins, I can’t help but think about how close and I am to turning thirty. I’m sure the thought of this is absolutely terrifying to most twenty something’s. As much as I feel fortunate to have lived my life so far, I thought by now, I would have my life and who I wanted to be figured out. I guess it doesn’t come to everyone that easy. After quitting a job that I saw no potential to grow in, I decided to devote my time to finding a career that truly made me happy– (this again, didn’t come easy). After many months of job searches, interviews, self reflection, and a gaining a little courage (my courage mostly stemmed from realizing and accepting that it was okay to not be like everyone else, or fit in a specific box); I decided that I wanted to start a YouTube channel and a blog about beauty, fashion and lifestyle.
I have always been interested in beauty and fashion. As a child I remember playing with my mom’s makeup and smelling her perfumes, ‘YSL Paris’ to be exact. As a teenager, I obsessively read fashion magazines and derived inspiration from them. As a twenty something, I discovered YouTube and fashion blogs and I was hooked! Every night, before I go to bed, I either watch YouTube videos or catch up on my favorite fashion and lifestyle blogs. I am so happy and relaxed when I’m transported to the world of fashion and beauty! Besides, creating original content whether it’s a blog post or a YouTube video, allows me to be creative with my thoughts and interests. It encourages a dynamic, challenging and exciting environment that I imagine an ‘ideal’ career to be.
I am, by no means, claiming to be an expert in fashion or blogging. I am getting to know myself with this blog as much as you are getting to know me. What I hope comes out of this blog is creativity and inspiration that will slowly change my world and yours! So friends, I end this post with a quote for the New Year:
¨May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and (good) madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art– write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself¨- Neil Gaiman.
